The China-based phone maker launched the Y6 Prime 2019 in Kenya on Friday, March 15, a move that is likely to trigger fresh round of smartphone wars in the local budget market, and one that Huawei seems to be winning already.
Huawei's latest smartphone is expected to face brutal competition from Samsung Galaxy J4 Plus and Techno Camon 11.
The Y6 Prime 2019, which is the first budget smartphone to hit the Kenyan market from Huawei, falls in the same range with the Samsung and Techno models, but it is much more affordable compared to the two, and that is where Huawei begins to reign supreme.
Currently, the brand new Y6 Prime is retailing at KSh 13,499 in Kenya. Its rivals, Samsung Galaxy J4 Plus and TECNO Camon 11, are both retailing at KSh 14,999.
